John Burningham’s Father Christmas is kindly and determined as he uses any means of transport to deliver his final git when the reindeer are tucked up in bed with a cold after a long night of present delivering on Christmas Eve. This quietly joyful story of empathy and determination was first published in 1993 and is 30 years old this year. It is a delightful classic, beautifully and magically illustrated using a variety of techniques including collage, ink, watercolour and photography for storytelling effect. Original artwork from the book is on display at the Harley Gallery for Christmas.
